The Theater Arts Program is an integral part of Monarch School and is offered every academic block. Theater classes have a wide array of offerings, including scene acting, improvisation, theater history, directing the actor, acting Shakespeare, actor movement training, and lighting. Classes focus on the tools it takes to be an actor, such as voice training, body awareness, relaxation, improvisation, character development, text analysis, taking direction, and collaboration. Theater gives the students a safe place to freely express themselves and helps students shed self-consciousness.
Our campus has a beautiful theater with hi-tech lighting and beautiful dressing rooms for both boys and girls. Students participate in a major theatrical production performed in our theater twice a year; however, each quarter offers an opportunity for students to perform in a theatrical presentation consisting of one-acts, scenes, monologues, and original pieces.
In addition to our theatrical performances, we also host school dances, parent conferences, and school graduations in our theater.
